I accepted the mission: tell you a story, the review of laGUARP’s experience at the LAMC 2011.
This is the Day One. But the day one of what?
The Latin Alternative Music Conference 2011. A five-day of networking.
Where artists, label executives and the most influential people of the Spanish-language alternative music scene gather.
People who do programming and decide our music scene; or at least, they influence it.
This year is their 12th Anniversary and so far, one of the smoothest productions they have ever had.
The first day was about Registration, getting our badges and programs to be able to assist to all the events around the LAMC 2011.
The first event LAMC offered, was the “Music Night”, part of the Summerstage: An annual festival in NYC that offers music, theater, and dance, with over 100 free performances from around the neighborhood and around the globe.
The headliner was Catalan Jarabe de Palo and Mexico represented with Ely Guerra. Also performances by Novalima (Afro-Peruvian electronica folk) and Mr. Pauer, an extraordinary DJ from Miami.
Central Park was packed and the event was truly worthy to watch.
Even the production had some issues with the audio after Ely Guerra’s performance and at the beginning of Pau Donés’, the people were really thankful for such a beautiful evening in Central Park.
Latin Alternative Music was really warming up this beautiful summer in New York!
At the same time, some showcases were happening at the Mercury Lounge:
• Buenos Aires’ ethereal folk artist Pablo Malaurie,
• Venezuelan dance rockers La Vida Boheme,
• Chilean electro funk act Jazzimodo,
• Argentine electro group Poncho,
• Colombian rockers Superlitio, and
• Miami’s soulful groovesters Elastic Bond.
We heard La Vida Boheme was one of the highlights of the night.
And after all this, we call it a day, we were back at the hotel to write down and share this with all of you.
